Chris - Not sure if you read the post but we are on the same exact page here.

"The reason why companies like Stubhub and ticket brokers continue to make so much money is because of experiences like this.

Sure, I can watch the game on TV but it’s just not the same.

Same reason why movie theaters will always be around.

Sooner or later you can find a free copy of whatever you want, but getting to see a copy the moment it is released by its creators (and actually being there) is priceless."

It's the incredible experience we're all after...

I agree with your point that movie theaters will always be around. But I don't compeltely agree with your reasoning.

There is something special about seeing something as soon as it becomes available. But going to the movies the weekend a film comes out isn't always the fastest way. Torrent sites are making it easier to find pirated copies of the newest blockbuster the same week it's hitting the silver screen. In term of music, you can download albums online (both illegally and legally) before they are in stores.

The reason people will continue going to the movies is because it's an experience. Seeing MJ live is an experience. The internet is making it easier to do almost anything from your computer. But easier doesn't mean better. It just means easier.

Timing will always play a role (movie ticket sales almost always peak opening weekend), but more important is feeling a part of the experience. That's a feeling and a reality that can't be replaced by TV or the internet.
